Maidstone United Rascals 1 - 10 Eastbourne Town

The Stones started of very positively against an Eastbourne Town side two divisions higher. However the visitors soon showed their class, knocking the ball around in style and opening the scoring following a corner in the 7th minute. A further four goals followed before half time as Eastbourne continued to dominate despite some great work from Laura Grant and Charley Mitten in the central defence and a commanding performance from Lisa Gilbert in goal. Maidstone were forced to make a change just before the break when Louise Nixon twisted her knee and was replaced by Kay Doody.

A change of formation after the break helped the Stones come more into the game. They pushed forward into the Eastbourne area and Becky Penfold unleashed a powerful shot to pull a goal back. At this point the Stones had the better of the game but were starting to run out of energy and Kayleigh Love replaced Alison Goddard who had developed blisters. The visitors took advantage as Maidstone ran out of steam, to score another 5 goals to make the final score 10-1.

Manager John Harvey commented after the game "The girls gave everything again this week and again we ran out of steam in the last 20 minutes.

We are getting better every week and the girl's just need to keep believing in themselves and when we get our first win this would be a truly big moral booster for all the team."

Player of the Match was Lisa Marie Gilbert
